The   San Diego CITD  was awarded a grant from the  California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office Division of Economic and Workforce Development to develop an apprenticeship program for the  Cargo and Freight Agent occupation. Sample job titles in this occupation include: Cargo Agent, Documentation Clerk, Freight Broker, Logistics Coordinator, and others.

The Supply Chain and Logistics Apprenticeship Program (SCLAP) is a State-approved program that combines paid on-the-job training with classroom lessons. Apprentices in the program will take courses from   Southwestern College’s  International Logistics and Transportation Program while working full-time. The grant awarded to the San Diego CITD covers the cost of taking these courses for apprentices, including books and materials. There are also incentives for employers that participate in the program.

You can apply to be an apprentice if you are a student or current worker in the logistics industry and would like to be considered for the program. If you are an employer, find out how you can hire an apprentice from the program or train recent hires.
